The Media are on trial. But what are they on trial for exactly? Not long ago the media were on trial in the form of the Leveson  enquiry, for being too tabloidish. Poking in people’s dustbins, that sort of thing.

Too often we see reports in the western mainstream media about Syria which are distorted and hardly resemble the reality on the ground. What’s worse however, is when misleading stories are used to extract money from unwitting western audiences.

Today, on World Press Freedom Day, Leeds City Museum, a city council owned and operated venue, cancelled the Media on Trial’s booking for the event we had planned for 27 May.
