As Yemen War Turns Four, Houthi Forces Take the Battle To Saudi Arabia’s Doorstep

JIZAN, SAUDI ARABIA — Yemen’s army, loyal to the Houthis, launched a large-scale military operation on Sunday against the Saudi military bases in the Kingdom’s southwestern region of Jizan, some 900 kilometers (560 miles) south of the Saudi capital of Riyadh. The operation comes as the deadly Saudi war against Yemen enters its fourth year.

YEMENI-SAUDI BORDER — As the widely unpopular Saudi-led, U.S.-backed war on Yemen continues to push the country deeper into one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, Saudi Arabia has launched a vicious campaign to secure Jizan, its vulnerable southern border region with Yemen, which has been its Achilles heel in its brutal assault on its southern neighbor. Yemen’s Houthi fighters, the primary force resisting the Saud-led occupation of Yemen, frequently target the Saudi military in Jizan, sending a stark reminder to the Kingdom that its war on Yemen will inevitably be felt at home.

Yemen’s Military Adopts More Aggressive Strategy, Captures Saudi Military Sites in Jizan

JIZAN, SAUDI ARABIA — The media branch of Yemen’s Ansar Allah military released footages on Friday showing the moment that strategic Saudi military locations were captured in the eastern al-Doud mountains and al-Reqa’h military bases deep inside of Saudi Arabia.  The bases are located in the southwestern region of Jizan, some 900 kilometers (559 miles) south of the Saudi capital of Riyadh. Saudi Arabia has not yet commented on the recent attacks.
