Merkel and Conte clash as migration issue threatens to split the EU

Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, and German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, butt heads as the migration issue exposes a growing divide between the EU’s member constituents.
Merkel has proposed a draft declaration to address the matter which contains a provision that could lead to the repatriation of migrants back to the EU nations in which migrants originally filed for asylum, which often means Italy or Greece, leaving them to disproportionately field the issue, a provision which Italy rejects.

Hungary considers legislation to jail NGOs for trafficking migrants

Viktor Orban, the newly reelected President of Hungary, ran on a platform of curtailing the migrant influx into Hungary and opposing the EU’s plan to relocate migrants all over the bloc, including Hungary.
So he proposed legislation, which was later passed into law, that considered levying a 25% tax on foreign contributions to NGOs, although that aspect of the bill was later scrapped.
The newest addition to the ‘Stop Soros’ package is offering to jail NGOs which help position migrants inside Hungary.

Thousands of Albanian protesters demand PM’s resignation

Thousands of protesters marched in the streets earlier to day demanding the resignation of Albania’s Prime Minister, Edi Rama, over alleged links to organized crime.
Albania is a NATO member and is presently looking forward to upcoming talks on its next phase of European integration. The protests come about a month before talks are set to resume on that topic.
This isn’t the first time Rama has fielded mass protests which seek his removal, last year saw multiple such events take place.

Orban didn’t get the NGOs out fast enough, protesters seeking ‘regime change’ flood streets of Budapest

Tens of thousands of Hungarians have taken to the streets in Budapest to protest against Viktor Orban and his party’s overwhelming majority election victory earlier this month. the protesters are accusing Orban of controlling the media, and using it as his own propaganda network to push through his reelection and his policies.
Protesters are in the streets to ‘defend’ the ‘free press’, as well as to oppose the ‘regime’ of Viktor Orban.

Soros funded NGO relocates to Germany following Hungary’s anti-NGO law

George Soros’s leading NGO in Hungary, the Open Society Foundation, is relocating to Berlin following the implementation of a recent law, known as the ‘Stop Soros Act’, aimed at reigning in Soros’s influence in the country.
Under the new law, NGOs which advance illegal immigration policies will be required to pay a 25% tax on foreign donations and report their activities to the Hungarian government.
With Viktor Orban’s reelection as Prime Minister, and his party, Fidesz, taking the reigns of power in the Hungarian parliament, the passage of the law seems to be imminent.
