Actor Mark Ruffalo got the chance to do something that many of us could only dream of doing when he told off the CEO of Monsanto, Hugh Grant, in the Green Room at CBS while Ruffalo was waiting to do a segment about his new movie, “Spotlight.”
Ruffalo writes at EcoWatch.com that it was an uncomfortable move for him, but a necessary one, as “we must call out the people who are doing horrible things when they do them.”

European Food Authority Concludes that “Glyphosate is Safe”

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) said on Thursday that glyphosate is unlikely to cause cancer in humans, despite the World Health Organization’s declaration in March that the main ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide is “probably carcinogenic to humans.”
Adding insult to injury, the agency proposed a higher exposure limit on the daily amount of glyphosate residue.

EPA Used Biased Studies to Deem Glyphosate “Safe”

In June, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ruled that the there was “no convincing evidence” that glyphosate, the main ingredient in Monsanto’s herbicide ‘Roundup,’ is an endocrine disruptor. The conclusion was based on an assessment of 52 chemicals and the likelihood that any of them could be classified as such. [1]

Most of the Glyphosate Sprayed in CA is Applied in Poor Areas

The Center for Biological Diversity, the Center for Environmental Health, El Quinto Sol de America, Californians for Pesticide Reform, the Center for Food Safety and the Pesticide Action Network released a report earlier this week that claims that more than half of the glyphosate sprayed in California is applied to the state’s 8 most impoverished counties.
