A former NFL star, who then became a deputy for Osceola County in Orlando, Florida was acquitted on Saturday by a federal jury on charges of stealing people’s identities and over $500,000 in false income tax returns.
Titus Dixon, 49, who was a wide receiver for both the National Football League and Canadian Football League, was cleared by a jury in Tallahassee over the weekend.
He had been a deputy in Osceola County for nine years and was fired in 2014 when he was indicted.

 
A disgraced Fire captain in Tampa pleaded guilty to embezzling almost $200,000 from Hope’s Children Home – a charity his father began for abandoned kids.
Alfred Schaffer, 50, pleaded guilty to federal charges and is facing up to 20 years in the slammer.
According to Tampa Fire Rescue spokesman Jason Penny, Schaffer was fired from his current position on Monday.

No pay for killer cops!

Florida Deputy Michael Szeliga was hailed a hero for his work as a cop, particularly for making 100 DUI arrests in Pinellas County, that is until he showed up “staggeringly drunk” to a Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) awards ceremony in Fort Lauderdale, where he was too “wasted” to receive an accolade for the DUI arrests he had made.
They don’t call it Fort Liquordale for nothing.

As the old saying goes, “You snooze, you lose” and for two Philadelphia cops who fell asleep on duty, it might just cost them their jobs.
The incident took place after a passerby snapped a photo of two Philadelphia police officers snoozing away in their patrol car. The image, which was gone viral, set off a firestorm of backlash and has prompted the Philadelphia Police Department to open an investigation into the matter.

Eric Gonzalez was once a sergeant with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department – now he is on his way to an eight year federal prison term.
Gonzalez was the supervisor on duty when he watched as Gabriel Carrillo was beaten by five other sheriff deputies in February 2011 at the Central Jail in Los Angeles.
U.S. District Judge George King ordered Gonzalez into custody immediately, saying, “You have abused your authority and corrupted the very system you were sworn to uphold.”
