A GOP bill in Congress could give employers access to employees’ personal medical and genetic information and increase financial penalties for people who reject workplace wellness programs. [1]
House Republicans have proposed this legislation that would make it easier for companies to gather DNA and health information from employees and their families – children included – when it’s collected as part of a ‘voluntary’ workplace wellness program. Debate still remains, however, on the effectiveness of such wellness programs in general. [2]

ArborGen has reportedly been fined $53.5 million in compensation and punitive damages by a court that found the GM research and development company defrauded its employees using “trickery and deceit.”

Taco Bell will do just about anything to bring more customers into its restaurants. A Taco Bell Cantina opened last week in Chicago. It’s unique because the establishment allows customers to pair their chalupas and tacos with beer, wine, or sangria. While the general public decides to reject fast food served up by McDonald’s and dozens of other fast food chains, McWorkers are showing disdain for McDonald’s in a different way. On Wednesday, thousands of protesters from cities around the country stormed McDonald’s Oak Brook headquarters, demanding that the hourly wage for McDonald’s employees be raised to $15 an hour.
