If you read DWT with any regularity you probably know we're pretty tough on law and order around here. This isn't an "abolish the death penalty" blog. This is a "let's use the death penalty much more" kind of blog-- albeit not until we have a perfected justice system that doesn't penalize suspects for being minorites or for poverty. One concrete outcome that President Obama could pursue on his visit to Saudi Arabia is saving the lives of three Shia youth sentenced to be executed, most likely by beheading, for participating in nonviolent protests. Sparing their lives could also help ease the Shia/Sunni tensions that have engulfed the region.
America is competing with the likes of China, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Iran for the top spot.
