Puerto Rico Just Became the First U.S. Territory to Declare Bankruptcy

(ANTIMEDIA) Puerto Rico — For the first time in American history, a territory claimed by the United States is filing for what is essentially bankruptcy.

Facebook Puts New York Times Veteran In Charge of Stopping ‘Fake News’

(ANTIMEDIA) On April 10, Anti-Media published an article titled “Google Putting CNN, Washington Post, NYT in Charge of Fact-Checking News.”
The title says it all. Through its new Fact Check feature on news stories, Google has put the job of informing the citizenry of what’s true and what’s false — on Google searches, at least — squarely in the hands of the corporate media.

But the piece wasn’t about the meme itself. It was about the potential threat to personal privacy and security that participating in such games poses.
“It’s all fun and games until someone’s password security question gets hacked,” the article opens.

(ANTIMEDIA) When I first heard the term “time crystal,” the science fiction geek in me reached out to the universe to confirm that something so cool could actually exist. And the universe responded by bestowing peer-reviewed studies by two different teams of physicists. I just wanted to know that time crystals were real; I had little concern for what they actually were or the revolutionary application in which they may play a pivotal role.

The ‘Taxation Is Theft’ Meme Has Officially Gone Mainstream

(ANTIMEDIA Op-Ed) The month of April is a nightmare for anyone with a conscience, as we only have until “tax day” — which usually falls on April 15 — to give the taxman what he says he deserves. So if you pay taxes to Uncle Sam and you’re also aware you’re paying for mass murder in the Middle East and in U.S. streets due to the drug war, you should also feel sick to your stomach as you write that check.

Study on Potential DAPL Oil Spill Deemed Too Dangerous to Be Made Public

(ANTIMEDIA) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is reportedly withholding a recent study on the effects a spill from the Dakota Access Pipeline could have on the environment. The pipeline, which inspired months of protest and heavy-handed tactics from police in North Dakota, was delayed in December but fast-tracked when President Trump took office. It is expected to be operational within a month.
