Iowa Racist Steve King: "We're All God's Chillun"

Iowa, a swing state, has swung light blue in recent years. Bill Clinton won both times. Al Gore beat Bush in 2000. Obama won both times as well, 54-44% against McCain and 52-46% against Romney. The Democats control the state Senate and the GOP holds the state House. Party registration shows 689,794 Democrats (32.0%), 672,308 Republicans (31.2%) and 792,363 (36.8%) independents and others. The only really conservative congressional district in the state, is IA-04, home to one of Congress' most outspoken racists, Steve King.

As The GOP Doubles Down On Homophobia, Do Gay Republicans Have A Role To Play Any Longer?

Right wing hedge fund operator and vulture capitalist Paul Singer may be best known as one of the money bags behind Mitt Romney but the ardent defender of the prerogatives of the one percent and their right to rule without interference from government (he's been on an anti-Dodd Frank jihad, for example) is also one of the biggest supp

The Republican Party Is Making Itself Over As The Party Of Anti-American Sedition

Many Republican Party leaders, always sensitive to their hate-fueled, paranoid base, are still clinging to their racism and bigotry. Its reflected in their policy agenda, the Ryan budget, their refusal to pass the bipartisan Senate comprehensive immigration plan (which even Boehner admits is being held back by the hate mongers in his caucus).

Presaging A Take Over In India By The Right-Wing BJP, The Supreme Court Reinstates A Sick 1861 Colonial Law Against Gay Sex

I'm not sure if the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) has been officially designated a hate group, but-- despite their claims that their only interest is preventing same-sex marriage-- their president, Brian Brown was in Moscow in June testifying in the Duna against gay adoption in "countries that allow gay people to marry." Hate groups like NOM have been working in other countries to

Iowa Republican Steve King On The Attack Again-- Except This Time His Target Is The GOP House Leadership

It's almost as though King has a political death wish. His House district has been redrawn and while still the reddest seat in Iowa, it isn't nearly as safe as it once was. The PVI is R+5, Romney beat Obama 53-45% and King himself had a relatively close call, alos winning just 53% of the vote against Christie Vilsack. Vilsack beat him in 7 counties, including two of the three big ones, Cerro Gordo and Story.

Can The Descendants Of Irish Immigrants Turn The Tide Against The Republican Party's Anti-Hispanic Bigots?

There are more than 7 times the number of Irish folks in the U.S. than there are in Ireland-- almost 35 million people. All of them are descendants of immigrants. Over 11% of Americans come from Irish ancestry-- and almost 13% of New Yorkers; on Long Island, the number is over 13%. Adjoining Lake County (Illinois) and Kenosha County (Wisconsin) are high among counties where Irish immigrants are settling today. Lake County is split between conservative New Dem Brad Schneider and an Establishment Republican, Randy Hultgren.
