Last week’s US-backed raid against what was described as an al-Qaeda position within Yemen’s Shabwa Province, in which officials claimed to have inflicted “heavy casualties,” appears to have actually marked the beginning of a much larger military campaign in the province.

SANAA – What at first perhaps looked like any regular hospital bedside visit between two old friends catching up was anything but.
In footage aired on an anonymous YouTube channel early in 2016, an elderly Yemeni cleric visited his Saudi peer, Aaidh al-Qarni, in a hospital in Riyadh, and brought good news from the battlefront next door.

(ANTIMEDIA) — According to Reuters, a royal decree has relieved Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef of his post as Crown Prince, as well as his role as First Deputy Prime Minister. He has been replaced by Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, King Salman’s 31-year-old son. The promotion confirms the king’s son as the next ruler of the kingdom over Mohammed bin Nayef, the king’s nephew.

(ANTIWAR) The Pentagon carried out over 70 airstrikes in March against targets inside Yemen, which was more than US forces carried out in all of 2016.

(REPORT) — In an unprecedented intensification of America’s counter-terrorism operations in Yemen, the US has confirmed it carried out 20 strikes across three central provinces.

The USS Mason "detected two inbound missiles" within an hour of each other.

(ANTIWAR) A US drone strike has attacked and killed six people in central Yemen, in the Wadi Abidah region of Maarib Province. The six were claimed by officials as “armed al-Qaeda suspects,” though none have been identified by name so far.
