A Virtuous Cycle: Trump Toxicity And Anti-Trump Turnout

Digby's tweet was so strong and to the point yesterday; every word completely precise-- like a Joni Mitchell song. "God he's dumb. Malevolent too. And psychologically unfit. But really, really dumb. I can't think of anyone in history with this particular combination. We just don't have a roadmap to deal with a very stupid, dishonest, narcissistic demagogue.

What Happened Last Night? Alexandria's Earthquake-- And The DCCC Stinks Up The Room Again

NY-14 voters knew exactly what they were voting forOn Wednesday mornings after elections, I like giving a recap of the important things that happened, at least important to progressives. I was all set to start with the way Jason Crow and he's sleazeball allies-- we're looking at you, Steny-- stole the CO-06 election from Levi Tillemann. We'll get to that soon.

A Dangerous Religious Cult?

Yesterday we took a peak at how the GOP is slipping into the status of being a cult rather than a legitimate political party. As I've mentioned before, recently Blue America has partner with an evangelical group, Vote Common Good, a 501 c (4) non-profit organization, which is helping Democratic congressional candidates have a better understanding of evangelical voters.

Tuesday Is The Big Day In Colorado Between Progressive Levi Tillermann And The DC Bosses' Candidate

With all the excitement over Alexandria Ocasio's shot at beating Joe Crowley on Tuesday another crucial race that hasn't gotten the kind of traction it deserves is the contest in the Denver suburbs (CO-06), a district that wraps around the city on three sides, from Littleton in the south west, across through Centennial, up through Aurora in the east and then across Brighton in the north. The PVI is a swingy D+2.

Et Tu, George Will? Expect More

As I've mentioned before, there are plenty of voters who feel this way about that issue and that way about the other issue, but what's going to motivate them to vote for a candidate one way or the other in November. I was on the phone with a Democratic candidate just now and she was telling he that a new poll showed her up 5 points over the incumbent, her Republican opponent, in a pretty red district. excellent!

What Will Make People Decide Who To Vote For In November?

There are a bunch of run-of the-mill Democrats and semi-Democrats running in Michigan this year, including for the district in the southwest corner of the state (MI-06) held by Fred Upton. One-- sleazy lobbyist George Franklin-- is especially bad. He's been helping finance Upton against Democrats for years. And now he wants to run against him. What a joke! I can see the GOP ads now: "I was for him before I was against him." And he was. Why?

Time For New Congressional Leaders? Sure, But Better Ones, Not Worse Ones

Years of targeting by right-wing media have made Nancy Pelosi one of the most unpopular politicians in America. Democrats like her though-- and especially her own constituents, Her congressional district had the biggest primary turnout of any congressional district in California... by far. In some cases turnout was double that of other districts! And she won in a landslide. But the Republican attacks actually have penetrated one group: Democratic politicians-- both congressional incumbents and especially candidates.

Will Independents Step Up To The Plate And Save America From Trump?

Beset by growing opposition from every direction-- except neo-Nazi Stephen Miller and the vilest of the hard core Trumpist bigots, Señor T appears to have raised the white flag of surrender yesterday. (We'll see-- it might be just trading family separation for family internment.) This is how Bernie put it this afternoon: "Trump’s executive order merely replaces one inhumane act with another.
