The World is Rising
After three weeks, Turkey is still experiencing massive unrest as the urban uprisings across the country progress, along with the state repression of them. As tear gas canisters used in Istanbul are made in Brazil, the population of Brazil – across the world – is rising up with hundreds of thousands and even millions of people in the streets. Sparked by an increase in bus fees, Brazil has witnessed the start of its massive urban uprisings, as protests re-charge with the student movement in Chile, with the anti-austerity movements in Greece, and new ones emerge in Indonesia and Lebanon. The world is rising … will we rise with it?
