Empire, Power, and People with Andrew Gavin Marshall- Episode 76

A Crisis of Empire

At the end of World War II, the United States had half the world’s wealth with only 5% of the world’s population, and stated explicitly that its objectives in foreign policy were designed to “maintain this disparity.” George C. Marshall, former Secretary of State, noted at the time that there was a “world revolution” among “the little people,” who were rising up against the centuries of domination by Western colonial powers.
Today, there is a new world revolution taking shape, from the resistance to the internal colonization of the EU in countries like Greece, Spain and Italy, to the popular uprisings currently taking place in Turkey and Brazil, to the continuation of mass protests in Egypt, and various protests and resistance movements across the world over the past few months in countries such as Tunisia, Bahrain, South Africa, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Japan, South Korea, and many more. The global power structures of state-capitalist corporate colonization are paying attention… are you?
