Ohio Protester Asking Charges be Dropped Against Autistic Man who Shoved him Down Stairs

UPDATE: November 16, 2016
Turns out, it is not clear if the man caught on video shoving an anti-Trump protester from behind is even a Trump supporter.
What is known is that the man suffers from Asperger Syndrome and the attack was not political in nature.
The protester who ended up getting shoved from behind is asking that the charges be dropped against him.
According to the Albuquerque Journal:

A protester who was tackled down a flight of stairs during a rally against Donald Trump at Ohio State University is seeking to drop an assault charge filed against his alleged attacker, saying this week that the incident had nothing to do with politics.
“It has become clear that my assault was not politically motivated in the way that we previously thought, nor was it committed by a Trump supporter,” Timothy Adams said in a public Facebook post. “At this time I am working to drop the charges against the person in question.”
Police arrested Shane Michael Stanton, 24, on Monday night after video showed him violently shoving Adams from behind as he was addressing a crowd of anti-Trump demonstrators in the university’s student union building. He was charged with misdemeanor assault.
Stanton’s father, John Stanton, told the Columbus Dispatch that his son had Asperger Syndrome, a type of high-functioning autism often marked by difficulty with social interactions.

It’s been six days since Donald Trump upset Hillary Clinton in the president election and there have been non-stop protests in cities and universities throughout the United States as well as reported violence between Trump supporters and protesters.
But until today, none of these clashes have been captured so vividly on video.
The video was recorded at Ohio State University Monday while an anti-Trump protester was standing on the stairs speaking to other protesters below through a bullhorn.
That was when a Trump supporter came running down the stairs and striking the protester from behind, sending him sprawling down the stairs.
According to the Lantern:

During a protest that ended up rolling into the Ohio Union, an anti-Trump protester was tackled while he was delivering a speech. The protester, Tim Joseph, was knocked down from where he was standing on the steps leading to the second floor.
Multiple emails have been sent to students and faculty regarding the disturbances surrounding the election.
“We protect First Amendment rights actively, but we do not under any circumstances tolerate intimidation or threats to students, faculty, staff or visitors to our campus,” said University President Michael Drake in one such email.
The man who tackled Joseph, who has not been identified, was arrested and placed under indefinite suspension from Ohio State, said Gerard Basalla, Undergraduate Student Government president and a fourth-year in political science and strategic communication.
“The assault that occurred — that’s what it was — in the Union tonight is completely unacceptable,” Basalla told The Lantern. “Every person on this campus has the right to feel safe and voice their opinion without fearing harm. We can’t be having this.”

The protesters are not protesting the results of the election, but the inflammatory rhetoric from Trump during the campaign that created great divisions in the country.
This is a breaking story, so come later for more details.
