In today’s show originally broadcast on October 14 2016, TBR Radio’s Andrew Carrington Hitchcock interviews Mike Walsh-McLaughlin in a show of two halves, so to speak. In the first half hour Mike read Rudyard Kipling’s poems, “The Wrath Of The Awakened Saxon,” and “The White Man’s Burden,” which we also discussed. He also revealed that when he published “The White Man’s Burden,” on a flyer in the late 1970’s, he was rewarded with a four month prison sentence.
In the second half hour I handed the show over to Mike during which he read through 9 excellent poems which he has written and published in several volumes of poetry under the name, “Michael Walsh.” The poems he read are as follows: She Turned Her Face Away; What Future For Our Children; The Self-Haters; They Won’t Go Quiet; The Golden Leaves Of Riga; When After 15 Minutes; Where The Skylarks Sing; Ma Vourneen; and The Day That Europe Died.
As my regular listeners know, Mike is a fantastic orator and it was a joy to hear him read both his and Kipling’s work on the show.
