Fatal Assumptions

In the midst
of prayers divine
laicists
lie
in layers fine
clothed in secular
superficiality.
Fear
of faiths extreme
extended
equivocating
humanism
merely pretended.
Tolerance,
crying
it would seem
extended
merely for those
worthy deemed.
Long forgotten
wars for Easter1
Long forgotten
clerical legions
absorbing
pagan empire
Roman,
turning worship
into war.
Nations white
and Christian crushing
black and brown
in every region,
with business belligerent
peace disdaining,
extinguishing
all dignity remaining.
Faking
friendship
to exploit,
stealing land
with hands adroit.
Workers,
peasants
brought
to their knees
by bankers,
journalists,
and armies free,
while helpful, willing
liberals
and progressives
scribbling
sobbing
join in the killing.
Western doctrines
the rich to please
violence rewarded
with academic degrees.
