Texas cops who feared for their lives when an unarmed man began dancing sicced a police dog on him, even though he was dancing with his hands up.
Then they let the dog maul his leg for several seconds.
All because they feared the man may run from the scene, which might endanger officers.
“At one point he backed up like he was going to run from the scene, potentially endangering officers by running across the freeway. At that point we deployed our K9 to safely take him into custody,” Houston cop Lt. Larry Crowson told ABC13.
Footage of the arrest shows Houston cops huddled and hiding behind the door of a police SUV fearing the unarmed, dancing man as he busts a move, twerking and shimmying.
“These are strange times in Houston. Strange, strange times.” Houston resident Tom Eng told Click2Houston.
“Yeah, I think when you’re approached by an officer you should listen to what he’s saying or she’s saying and make sure you’re following their directives.”
Video shows police stopping the man who led them on a chase on November 16, giving him orders over loudspeaker.
But he refuses to get out of his car for several minutes.
The man eventually exits the vehicle with his hands up, but refuses the officers’ orders to lay down.
Instead, he begins dancing, shaking his hips and waving his hands in the air.
He then dramatically turns towards officers, appearing shocked with his mouth agaped before officers release their K-9 on him.
The man can be heard screaming while one officer attempts to block the camera footage of the K-9 mauling his leg for several seconds.
Investigators claim the man threw something out of his vehicle during their pursuit.
Luckily, the unarmed man only suffered minor injuries after being mauled.
He now faces charges of felony evading.
