An unnamed California security guard has been fired after he was busted by a football fan with a camera masturbating during an NFL football game right out in the open, standing few feet from the cheerleaders he was supposed to be protecting.
The video was released after the woman who recorded it tried to contact the company four times to address the man disregarding women’s rights and general human decency.
But the company never called the woman back until after she posted the video online, according to TMZ.
Elite Security, the company providing security inside Qualcomm Stadium only responded to the woman, who wants to remain anonymous, said they would not release the name of the employee, citing privacy laws.
However, the company confirmed the unnamed employee passed the federal and state background checks required to employ security officers at the stadium, as well as completing training requirements.
Elite Security stated they have been providing security at Qualcomm stadium for over two decades and said there’s no way they could have seen this coming, adding that he hopes none of his past employees are judged by the man.
The company also stated they fired the masturbating man after they became aware of his behavior, but indicated the man even met the standards laid out in the company’s employee screening process.
“We are aware of the disturbing actions of an Elite security staff member at Sunday’s game. We apologize to any fans who may have witnessed the incident. Elite Security is currently investigating the incident and has vowed to take immediate and appropriate action.
The Chargers who play at least eight home games at the stadium a year issued the following statement regarding the man.
“The Chargers, Elite Security as well as the San Diego Police Department are aware of the disturbing actions of an Elite Security staff member at Sunday’s game. We apologize to any fans who may have witnessed the incident.”
San Diego police are investigating to find whether any criminal action occurred.
