(ANTIMEDIA) Corona, CA — A California woman was enjoying her lunch when she noticed something particularly disturbing. Becky Garfinkel of Corona says she was halfway through her salad when she saw a tiny frog start to move in the lettuce.
“As I’m pulling to go stab another bite, I see a frog sitting in my salad plate after I’ve eaten almost the entire salad. Completely freaked out – screamed. I threw up afterward because I was traumatized. I’m a vegetarian and I couldn’t believe there was a frog in there,” said Garfinkel.
The frog came from a prepackaged box of Taylor Farms baby spring salad mix purchased at a Target store in Corona on Tuscany Street, according to Garfinkel, who says the animal was barely alive after she rinsed the salad dressing off of him. “[My husband] noticed that he was kind of not moving a lot and he rolled over. So he decides, let’s do some chest compressions. With his finger – I’m not kidding you – barely pushes on the little frog and he breathes and turns around. I’m like OK. We have to keep him,” she said.
According to Garfinkel, the family has made a new home for the frog, who they’ve named Lucky, in an empty aquarium that once housed a pet lizard. “He survived so much,” she told the Los Angeles Times. “I am just happy he survived and I didn’t eat him.”
When Garfinkel reached out to Target via Facebook about the incident, the company offered her a $5 gift card. Taylor Farms apologized and launched an investigation into the mix-up, she said.
“I will tell you right now, I have no desire to ever eat a salad again. I’m petrified of the thought of a salad,” said the strict vegetarian.
