How and Why Mainstream & Pseudo-Alternative Media Funders and Their Puppetry Editors Kill Stories that Matter
Welcome to our second podcast episode, announcing our new media project- NEWSBUD.COM. In this podcast episode Peter B. Collins, investigative journalist extraordinaire Bill Conroy and I discuss the importance of agenda-free and independent investigative journalism, how the current media funders and puppetry editors censor and kill stories that matter, and the urgency to make Newsbud- 100% independent & People Funded, a reality. Bill Conroy will be leading the investigative reporting at Newsbud, and he has more than 20 years of experience covering the drug war, corruption in government and law enforcement, and national security matters.
Conroy talks about his work with Gary Webb, the Pulitzer winner who exposed the 1980’s CIA cocaine pipeline in the San Jose Mercury News and was viciously attacked by critics in government and media competitors. Conroy describes his own challenges in getting his hard-hitting stories published, as his employers knuckled under to pressure from advertisers and political figures. He makes the case for public funding of Newsbud, to insure against interference and censorship. For everyone who has been dreaming of a major independent media platform that’s free from corporate advertisements, partisan agendas, and a dependency on the ultra-rich, that dream is about to become a reality.
Newsbud’s pre-launch website will be live soon at Newsbud.com. Mark your calendars for Sunday, February 14, Valentine’s Day, when we will launch our Kickstarter campaign with a live-streaming telethon!
