In the thirty-second edition of the Russian Newspapers Monitor, Professor Filip Kovacevic discusses the articles from three Russian newspapers: Izvestia, Rossiyskaya Gazeta, and Argumenty i Fakty. He discusses the new Russian military equipment displayed at the Victory Day military parade in Moscow, the story of the Soviet pilot who shot down the U.S. bombers during the Korean war and its implications for the Russian attitude toward North Korea today, the Russian president Vladimir Putin’s surprise visit to his old KGB spy boss Lazar Matveyev, and the critique of the neoliberal economic policies, including the weakening of the ruble, by noted Russian economists.
