Matt Mittenthal, a former spokesman for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, was recently hired by BuzzFeed for a communications position for the news section of the website.
Prior to his work on Clinton’s campaign, Mittenthal worked as a press secretary for New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Heat Street reported Monday.
BuzzFeed has recently come under fire from President Donald Trump and his supporters, among others, for releasing an unverified dossier that contained controversial allegations about the president and his connections to the Russian government.
Trump denied the unsubstantiated claims, which included a charge that he held a “golden shower” urination party. The president said the claim cannot be true since he is “very much a germaphobe.”
BuzzFeed‘s editor in chief, Ben Smith, defended the decision to release the unverified information to the public last
week.
