Dimes

Once upon
a time
such a coin1
Rockefeller
learned
reluctantly
to give.2
Knowing
even dozens
no difference
make.
Livermore
Likud
Langley
as long
as livid
as lurid
perfumed
with stench
live.
Savage
seismic
moments
quake
slicing
souls
and families
asunder
Simultaneously
singing
soldiers
from their tents
springing
entertaining
death
from heads
and shoulders
spending
dimes3
to make
villages
smoulder.
A century
older
the selfish
wonder
why
sane people
see in those
soiled hands
no dime,
in foreign
lands
only
heinous crime.

  1. COIN in official jargon “counter-insurgency”: actually the systematic terrorism perfected by the CIA Phoenix Program and now the covert foreign policy of the US regime throughout the world.
  2. Ivy Lee (1877-1934) was a propagandist whose most notorious contribution to US culture was persuading John D. Rockefeller to feign generosity by giving dimes in public to unsuspecting youths as a pretense for promoting their “entrepreneurial” activity and thrift.
  3. DIME, dense inert metal explosive. A weapon developed by the Lawrence Livermore National (Weapons) Laboratory in California. Using inert metals like tungsten (for which the US waged war against Korea in 1952 to get on the cheap), this explosive leaves pulverised shrapnel in the body which cannot be extracted by any surgical procedure– making it an ideal weapon for slaughtering civilians while leaving their homes in tact.
