Washington, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser Declares Public Emergency Amid Juvenile Crime Crisis, Opioid Epidemic

During the first nine months of 2023, 458 juveniles were arrested for robbery, including carjacking, homicide, and assault with a dangerous weapon, a 10% increase over 2022. 73% of the carjackings involved guns. Juveniles accounted of 66% of the carjacking arrests, with 863 carjackings reported so far this year.
