No photos of money changing hands-- so it must have never happenedThat foreign money floods into the American political system is hardly a secret, although it is illegal. Nothing much is ever done to stop it. Patrick Murphy's political career, for example, has been partially funded by one of the most powerful families in Saudi Arabia, the patriarch of which-- Clinton Library $1,000,000-plus donor-- Nasser al-Rashid, is one of the royal family's top 3 advisors. They've funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars into Murphy's 3 campaigns-- 2 for the House and now one for the U.S. Senate. Even as crooked a player as Harry Reid felt compelled to return a $100,000 check from one al-Rashid son as the disreputable family's plot to get Murphy into the Senate started coming to light. (By the way, Murphy is on the House Intelligence Committee.)Over the weekend, a report circulated-- briefly-- that the Saudi royal family had massively financed the Clinton campaign against Bernie Sanders. Saudi Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman: "Saudi Arabia always has sponsored both Republican and Democratic Party of America and in America current election also provide with full enthusiasm 20 percent of the cost of Hillary Clinton’s election [which would mean over $40 million] even though some events in the country don’t have a positive look to support the king of a woman (sic) for presidency." Embarrassing. And quickly covered up by the Podesta Group-- which works for both the Saudi royal family and the Clinton campaign. Worth noting that the Saudi royal family has given the Clinton Foundation between $10 million and $25 million. So now there are several versions of the story, all of which conclude with: "keep walking; avert your eyes; nothing to see here... hey, walk faster. None of the coverage of Prince Mohammed's meetings-- with John Kerry, CIA Chief John Brennan and Director of National Intelligence James Clapper-- in the U.S. Tuesday referenced the report about financing Clinton's campaign. Her campaign is refusing to comment on the story.
