After two months of silence, mystery and insinuations about the shooting death of Fox Lake Police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, investigators have confirmed the Illinois cop died of a self-inflicted gun wound.
Suicide rather than homicide, the latter which is what the Lake County Sheriff’s Office was trying to push, even though it kept getting more and more obvious as time went by that there was nobody else involved in the shooting.
On September 1, Gliniewicz had called into to dispatch that he was following three suspicious males into the forest, two while males, one black male.
Responding officers arrived and came across his body, laying in a field a few feet away from his car, and assumed he had been killed by the men he said he was chasing, which is what prompted a statewide manhunt.
But sources close to the investigation told PINAC that it appears that the initial responders did not find his gun because it had ended up under some leaves or bushes, which is why so many cops embarked on that huge manhunt, thinking his gun had been stolen from him.
When they eventually found the gun, the initial ambushed story had already been making the media rounds throughout the country as another example of the escalating War on Cop.
The official suicide announcement will be made during a news conference Wednesday.
But today’s leaked announcement comes only one day after the FBI announced it was going to begin investigating the death, so maybe Lake County sheriff’s officials figured to just own up to the truth before they were forced to to it.
According to the Chicago Tribune:
Authorities have called a news conference for Wednesday to announce “significant new information” regarding the shooting death of a Fox Lake police officer, and multiple law enforcement sources with knowledge of the investigation have told the Tribune that authorities are expected to announce that he took his own life.
The sources say that authorities believe Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz, 52, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound Sept. 1.
The new information comes two months after officers found Gliniewicz mortally wounded in a remote, marshy area of the village near the Wisconsin border.

CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) – Sources have told FOX 32 News that the task force investigating the shooting death of Fox Lake Lt. Joe Gliniewicz has concluded it was a suicide.
After examining all the evidence, the task force has determined that Lt. Gliniewicz took his own life, due to personal and professional pressures.
In September, we reported that the Fox Lake shooting was one of three fabricated shootings that have taken place this year, giving cops enough material to hype up the War on Cops.
