I used to be the president of my university's Young Democrats. That didn't even last a full semester. I soon discovered that there was a sharp, sharp difference between a progressive and a Democrat. These days there aren't any Republicans who are progressive. There are barely any Republicans left who are even conservative. They've moved so far right-- from conservative to reactionary-- that they left plenty of room for the Republican wing of the Democratic party to feel comfortable donning conservative mantles. Those aren't the kinds of Democrats Blue America backs. In fact, those are the kinds of Democrats Blue America opposes.We first discovered Pennsylvania state Senator Daylin Leach when he released the Liberal Lion video. He's running for the open congressional seat in Northeast Philly and Montgomery County and we endorsed him a few month ago. He's one of those Democratic wing of the Democratic Party Democrats, a proud progressive. Earlier today he released the video up top, which only reminded us of how great it would be to give progressive leaders in Congress like Alan Grayson, Elizabeth Warren, Raul Grijalva and Barbara Lee another strong, proven fighter to work with in coming up with ways to right the balance between ordinary working Americans and the corporate behemoths in control of the GOP and most of the Democratic Party.Watch that video and think about chipping in for Daylin's campaign.
