“A Brief History of COINTELPRO and “Targeted Killings” in the United States” with Larry Pinkney
On this first edition of De-manufacturing Consent, Guillermo welcomes former political prisoner, activist, writer, and veteran of the original Black Panther Party, Larry Pinkney, to the program. Guillermo and Larry, himself a victim of the FBI’s Counter Intelligence Program, discuss the origins of COINTELPRO and the program’s role in attempts to infiltrate, defame, discredit and even coordinate and execute murders and assassinations—or “extrajudicial targeted killings” in today’s language. We provide concrete examples and touch on specific cases, such as Fred Hampton, Mumia Abu Jamal, the MOVE bombing in Philadelphia in 1985, and much, much more.
*This first episode of De-Manufacturing Consent with Guillermo Jimenez will be available to all. Our coming weekly episodes will be available to BFP subscribers every Thursday.
