He explains that the Obama administration is continuing to pursue a failed policy of “isolation” against Russia, one that has exposed the cracks in relations between Washington and its key European allies, particularly France and Germany. Draitser notes that Obama is trying to walk a precarious middle ground between the political and business establishment in the West, at once pursuing an aggressive anti-Russian policy while, simultaneously, making sure not to be so aggressive as to anger powerful business interests. He states that it is a blundering policy that exposes the weakness of Obama’s policy on Ukraine.
