Allegedly: US offers Turkey support to set up safe-zone in exchange for halting clashes with YPG

The offer was alleged to have been made at the UN this past September 20th. Yet, it takes 12 days for this story  to break, just in time for this weeks media cycle. I flat out do not believe this news/claim as it has been presented. And, am of the mind this nonsensical story is/will be used to present Turkey as uncooperative & belligerent. While, undoubtedly, be employed to further expand the negative aspect/cult of personality narrative that has been created against Turkey’s President.Notice that this news comes hot on the heels of reports of a second coup/colour revolution attempt that has been warned about, this month in Turkey?

Notice this news comes in advance of the US telling Turkey they will respond regarding the arrest and extradition of Gulen?

The entire claim of an offer relies on hearsay, from one reporter, who is paraphrasing the Obama administration.

The extremely problematic use of hearesay has been mentioned here previously

1. Unverified information heard or received from another; rumor.2. Law Evidence that is not within the personal knowledge of a witness, such as testimony regarding statements made by someone other than the witness, and that therefore may be inadmissible to establish the truth of a particular contention because the accuracy of the evidence cannot be verified through cross-examination.hearsay ('h???se?)ngossip; rumourhear•say ('h??r?se?)n.unverified information acquired from another; rumor.

The above considerations out of the way, below is the news report about this alleged offer:

“Washington has made an offer to Ankara in which the United States will permit the establishment of a safe zone – something Turkey has been demanding for years – in exchange for Turkey not fighting Syrian Kurdish forces. “Turkey can form a security zone as it wishes in Syria. We will also lend all kinds of support. But do not fight with Kurds [in Syria],” daily Cumhuriyet columnist Asli Aydintasbas quoted U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration as telling Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan last week in Washington, where Erdogan attended the U.N. General Assembly”

Since US President Obama’s administration is an organization and not an individual, the “administration” cannot be quoted! Or paraphrased.  However, a spokesperson for the administration can be named and quoted-  that would be credible. That would be valid information. Who spoke these words?Who made this offer? No name?No title? No sense or nonsense. Therefore, I do not believe this news as presented because it is non credible & is reported at an advantageous time, propaganda wise, for the US and it's interests. An October 03/update for this post:hattip anonymous!
