Washington has failed to condemn the detention of Russian journalists working in Ukraine, instead doubting they were journalists at all and accusing them of smuggling weapons based on a “reports and conversations” on the ground.
The US State Department claims that Russian journalists were in possession of press accreditation that was given to them by the self-proclaimed Donetsk republic, which Ukraine and the US do not recognize.

But skeptical sandwich observers ask, was it really his last?Let the record show that this corned-beef job was not Philip Roth's last sandwich, which was reported by The Borowitz Report to have been a turkey with lettuce and tomato on whole wheat (condiments unspecified -- surely not dry?).

 The EU policy of maintaining close relations with Israel as a supposed means of persuading it to end its violations of human rights and international law, and negotiate in good faith, has clearly failed.

Lithuanian Chief of Defence meeting with EU and NATO in Brussels
The Lithuanian Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Arvydas Pocius will attend European Union and NATO Military Committees meetings in Brussels today, Lithuania’s Ministry of National Defence said.
The meeting of the EU Military Committee will focus on strategic priorities in capability concentration and division among member states.

Let me save Pennsylvania for the end, since that's the one with Democrats. Georgia and Kentucky are Republican affairs, although who the GOP voters pick in each state may influence the outcome of the November elections-- and the control of the U.S. Senate. We'll start with Georgia's 7 dwarves running for the open red Senate seat that conservative Democrat, Sam Nunn's daughter, thinks she has a chance to win.

Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's State of Law coalition has won at least 92 of the 325 seats at stake in the elections last month, giving him a strong shot at a third term as premier. At least 39 people were killed and 15 more were wounded in today's attacks.

With an eye on the New Cold War, NATO officials have been examining existing defense plans and are finding, much to the delight of those advocating more spending, a stark reality: the Baltic States of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are not prepared to fight off a full-scale Russian invasion.
