A Slow-Motion Genocide

At the Wailing Wall
they pray whole-
heartedly, some
might say fanatically,
rocking back and
forth, seeking
divine guidance
and approval,
while at the other
wall, The Palestinian
Wall, no pilgrims
gather, no tourists
flock for a blessing
or two and a cherished
photo. This is a prison
wall, a wall of apartheid,
a wall of death. For
the slow slaughter
of an entire people
has been going on
for decades in plain
sight, in full view
of all who have the
courage to look and
see the blood
and destruction. It
is a slow-motion
genocide grinding
along day after day,
year after year,
bomb after bombing,
poisoning after
poisoning, sniper
after sniper, stretching
into the future where
one day they will
announce the problem
has finally been
resolved and peace is
at hand, for, mercifully,
the last Palestinian
has been killed
