Bashar al Assad Calls for Parliamentary Syrian Elections in April/2016

SANA- President al-Assad issues decree No. 63 which sets April 13th, 2016 as a date for electing members of the People’s Assembly

Damascus, SANA-President Bashar al-Assad issued on Monday decree No. 63 which sets Wednesday, April 13th, 2016 as a date for electing members of the People’s Assembly for the 2nd legislative term.The total number of the members is 250 which include different sectors of labors, peasants and other spectrums of the Syrian people distributed as the following seats:Damascus 29,Damascus countryside 19, Aleppo 20, Aleppo countryside 32, Homs 23, Hama 22, Lattakia 17, Idleb 18, Tartous 13, Raqqa 8, Deir Ezzor 14, Hasaka 14, Daraa 10, Sweida 6 and Quneitra 5.

Syrian President Bashar Assad has called for parliamentary elections to be held in April.

Assad announced in a decree issued Monday that new parliament elections would be April 13. Such elections are held once every four years.The announcement came hours after the U.S. and Russia agreed on a temporary cessation of hostilities for Syria that will take effect Saturday, even as major questions over enforcing the truce were left unresolved.

Syrian president Bashar al-Assad has called a parliamentary election for 13 April, according to a government statement.
