Aleppo's LIBERATION : Will the media reboot?
Will the media reboot? Will politicians tell the entire unvarnished truth?Obviously the answer to both questions is : NO Yesterday for all intents and purposes Aleppo had been LIBERATED. Her people free of the terrorists hordes that had ensconced themselves within- So last night, I made a point of paying attention to the tell-a-vision news. The talking heads could barely contain their glee over the fact ISIS had moved back in Palmyra- HOWEVER– it was reported that their had been “advances in Aleppo by the Syrian regime” That was it “advances”.

Want To See The Democratic Party Get Back To It's Populist/Progressive Roots? Join Blue America In Endorsing Jimmy Gomez For Congress
Jimmy Gomez is a young guy from my neighborhood. When Xavier Becerra was appointed by Jerry Brown to become California Attorney General-- filling the vacancy created by Kamala Harris' election to the Senate last month-- my first thought was to wonder if Jimmy could be persuaded to run for the congressional seat. It's a deep blue seat and there's no Republican who could ever compete there. Obama got 83% of the vote in 2012. So it is going to be a campaign about who who would be the best Democratic candidate, the one with the best proven vision for the job.

Ralph Raico, RIP
I am sad to report that a very dear friend and long-time supporter of Antiwar.com, Ralph Raico, has passed away at the age of 80.
I met Ralph 40 years ago when I was active in the Libertarian Party. He was an active proponent of the anti-interventionist stance in his eloquent writings and a frequent speaker at antiwar rallies. Ralph was one of the founders of the Libertarian Party’s gay caucus. -

In the West Bank, Israel’s ‘charity’ comes at a price
Israel's military authorities have published a video on social media publicising Palestinian attractions in the West Bank, in what looks like a generous promotional stunt to bring tourists to Palestine. Except that is precisely not where the video invites them. Instead it beckons tourists to visit "Judea and Samaria", the Biblical names Israel uses to justify the illegal Jewish settlements that dominate much of the West Bank.

The Abnormalization of Dissent
The spin, lies, manipulation and deceptions are coming so fast and thick it's increasingly difficult to document them all, let alone analyze them. But in the broad sweep of recent events we can see a common theme emerging: the abnormalization of dissent. And when political ideology boils down to nothing more than "real" and "fake" the control of political discourse through language itself is almost complete. Can outright censorship be far behind?
