Russia's Vitaly Churkin Walks Out Of UN Meeting Mad At USA" The video captures Churkin's emotional state very wellWar of words after US air strike in Syria
You might’ve thought that the United States‘ policy in Syria couldn’t get any more confused or damaged: but the admission that a US air strike has killed somewhere between 60 to 83 soldiers of the Syrian Army is just about the worst thing, and at the worst time, that could’ve happened in terms of US […]
By Finian CUNNINGHAM | Strategic Culture Foundation | 18.09.2016 Washington’s lie about seeking a genuine ceasefire in Syria is in danger of being exposed for the world to see. So, hilariously, a charade is being hurriedly orchestrated in order to hide this ignominy. As usual, the Syrian government is being scapegoated for the real cause […]

“Renewing our relationship with China is extremely important for Canada,” Trudeau said after meeting with Li and Xi in Beijing in early September [Xinhua]
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang arrives in New York Sunday to take part in the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, which opened last week, and to visit Canada and Cuba.
Li’s visit to Canada comes two weeks after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong, on the sidelines of his participation at the G20 Leaders’ Summit in Hangzhou.
The Associated Press is reporting that the US military has struck Syrian government positions in the eastern province of Deir el-Zour today, as the Syrian military was involved in a battle with ISIS forces.
Most political disputes are not about the things the parties involved claim they are about. The recent wars in Middle Eastern countries, in which control of energy resources were a geopolitical issue before the current crop of “repressive dictators” were born, illustrate this point very well.

It’s in times such as these that I am compelled to acknowledge my own racism. For though I was raised by white liberal parents who early on supported Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Rights movement during the Sixties, I grew up in America, in fact, in the South, and thus I unconsciously took on common beliefs and attitudes prevalent in the dominant cultural paradigm about people whose skin was darker than mine. “White people are smarter.” “Black people are better athletes.” Etcetera.
In August 2016, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar and the State Counsellor (the major position in the government – author’s note), Aung San Suu Kyi made an official visit to China. This was her first visit to the People’s Republic of China in her new role, which she obtained after the victory of her Party, the National League for Democracy (NLD), in the parliamentary elections of 2015.
I have been busy all day taking care of some family business, and just over an hour ago I finally sit down to surf the Internet and find out what is happening in our world... And what I have found is shocking and what just occurred in Syria may lead to a further escalation in that conflict to a war between the US and Russia itself!
Thursday evening we took a quick look at the venomous assault on whistle-blower Ed Snowden by the establishment stooges who make up the House Intelligence Committee. I reached out to over a dozen members of Congress for a countervailing opinion. No one was interested in going on the record. Barton Gellman, who was-- along with Glenn Greenwald, Laura Poitras and Ewen MacAskill-- one of the 4 journalists who Snowden trusted with the NSA classified archives.
RT | September 18, 2016 The US’ sudden attempt to “help” the Syrian army fighting ISIS in the eastern city of Deir ez-Zor, which resulted in a strike that killed and injured dozens of soldiers, does not look like an honest mistake, Russia’s UN envoy told journalists at the UNSC meeting. “It is highly suspicious […]
© Sputnik/ Alexei Druzhinin Sputnik – 17.09.2016 Russia says that the situation in Syria is worsening finding that the rebels have intensified their attacks since the ceasefire came into force on September 12 and laying the blame at the feet of Washington for failing to crackdown on jihadists. A recent post discussed the effect of climate change on the food supply. I now have a little more information.I start with the table from Lobell et. al. 2011 which I showed in my previous post:The issue was the effect on food supply, so it matters how much of each crop is used for food.

Russia convened an emergency UN Security Council Session on US-Led coalition airstrikes against the Syrian Army which Moscow fears will undermine the breakthrough ceasefire agreement that just went into effect earlier this week.

Meanwhile, the opposition has accused the election board of foot-dragging and bias towards the regime.

(ANTIMEDIA) FBI Director James Comey spoke at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington earlier this week to discuss the importance of cybersecurity. During the discussion, Assistant Attorney General John Carlin asked Comey if he still had his webcam covered with tape, a question referencing previous statements by the director. Comey replied, “Heck yeah, oh, heck yeah.” He continued to encourage the public to do the same thing:

The ‘mainstream’ Western media is, almost by definition, the last place to consult for honest reporting of Western crimes. Consider the appalling case of Yemen which is consumed by war and an ongoing humanitarian catastrophe. Since March 2015, a ‘coalition’ of Sunni Arab states led by Saudi Arabia, and supported by the US, Britain and France, has been dropping bombs […]
