It arrived in New York in 1884, was assembled, and dedicated on October 28, 1886. Since then it has been exactly what it was meant to be; a beacon of liberty and a welcome to all immigrants. Liberty herself is Libertas, the Roman Goddess of Liberty.

Kirsten Gillibrand is a real piece of crap-- the worst Democratic senator of the year-- worse than Joe Manchin, worse than Claire McCaskill, worse than Heidi Heitkamp, worse than Mark Warner, Joe Donnelly, Tom Carper, DiFi or Michael Bennet. All those senators score “F” from ProgressivePunch.

Harvey Milk was an old friend of mine. He was serving on the San Francisco Board of Supervisors with Dianne Feinstein when he was assassinated. He always detested Feinstein-- hated her even more than Dan White, the guy who murdered him and Mayor George Moscone late in November of 1978. I never met her by I felt like I knew her through Harvey. I never voted for her as a county supervisor or as a mayor or as anything else she ever ran for. Back in these early days of her political career, DiFi was a xenophobic asshole who was making her name as an anti-Hispanic/anti-Asian asshole.

Alas, there are virtually no good Republicans any longer, even if, occasionally, a Republican-- a McCain or a Walter Jones or a Justin Amash-- does something good. Electorally, it virtually never happens that a Democrat, no matter how awful is worse than a Republican. When I was growing up in New York, Republican John Lindsey was better than Democrat Abe Beame.

I guess eventually Trump will stand in front of bit and pieces of border wall and claim he built it. I maybe Congress will feel sorry for him and toss him a few dollars to build a little piece of wall himself. Other than that-- despite what the neo-Nazis claim-- that wall ain't happening. A few days ago Sessions was in Nogales, a border town in Raúl Grijalva's district.
