Europe and Others Help Fund the UN Palestinian Agency, Filling US Void
Pierre Krahenbuhl, who runs the UN agency for Palestine refugees, left, and President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine. The agency, called Unrwa, said it raised $118 million in a fund-raising lunch at the UN on Sept. 27, 2018, leaving a $68 million gap for the year, after the Trump administration ended its $300 million annual contribution.
The Real Reasons behind Washington’s War on UNRWA
The US government’s decision to slash funds provided to the United Nations agency that cares for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, is part of a new American-Israeli strategy aimed at redefining the rules of the game altogether.
Trump And His Walls
I wonder if adolescent Trump was ever a stamp collector. Most Americans who know of the existence of Spanish Sahara (1884-1975) only know about it as a part of their collections. It's a big, mostly empty territory south of Morocco and north and west of Mauritania, bordering on a stretch of the Atlantic Ocean. A tiny corner touches southwest Algeria.
The Dalai Lama’s Remarks on Migrants follow a CIA, Nazi and Slavery-linked History
This past week the 14th Dalai Lama, Tibet’s 83-year old self-declared spiritual leader in exile, made controversial remarks at a press conference in Malmö recognizing the 80th anniversary of the founding of Individual Humanitarian Aid, a Swedish development and philanthropic assistance program that took in Buddhist refugees after the Chinese annexed Tibet in 1959. [Tibet has been under Chinese rule since the Yuan dynasty which began in 1279 CE — DV Ed] His comments came as he addressed the European migr
Our Broken System has no “Moderate” Devotees
Western politics is tearing itself apart, polarising into two camps – or at least, it is in the official narrative we are being fed by our corporate media. The warring camps are presented as “moderate centrists”, on one side, and the “extreme right”, on the other. The question is framed as a choice about where one stands in relation to this fundamental political divide. But what if none of this is true?
The Israel Lobby’s Non-stop Attacks on Corbyn will Backfire
Back in the 1950s, the US intelligence community coined a term: “blowback”. It referred to the unintended consequences of a covert operation that ended up damaging one’s own cause.
There are mounting indications that the intensifying campaign by the Israel lobby in the UK against Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of the parliamentary opposition, is starting to have precisely such self-harming repercussions.

Venezuela Fights On!
Jeanette Charles is the international solidarity liaison with Venezuelanalysis. In May 2018, she organized a delegation with Venezuelanalysis and The Intrepid News Fund to observe the presidential elections. During their trip, journalists, activists, lawyers and other participants met with representatives from community-based organizations, revolutionary collectives and Bolivarian government officials as well as interacting with people on the street from taxi drivers, street vendors and students.
There is a Deeper, Darker Agenda Afoot as the US cuts UNRWA Funding
The Trump administration’s decision to scrap all future aid payments to the main agency helping Palestinian refugees marks a new – and most likely disastrous – chapter in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
The US State Department said on Friday it would no longer continue its $360 million annual contributions to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), depriving it of a third of its budget. US officials described the organisation as “irredeemably flawed”.
