The new ceasefire agreement designed to cease hostilities in northwestern Hama and southern Idlib has just collapsed.

Recent storylines from the Western press on the “Idlib” narrative, particularly the extraordinary spate of “on-the-ground” reports from Sky News reporter Alex Crawford, have failed to paint an accurate picture of the reality faced by Syrian civilians.

On the 12th of May, 2019, Jaish Al Izza — an armed affiliate of Hayat Tahrir Al Sham (HTS) — an Al Qaeda rebrand that controls the majority of Idlib province and Northern Hama — targeted the Syrian Christian town of As Suqaylabiyah, situated on the border of terrorist-held areas.

The last week has seen a new trend developing in northern Syria, whereby terrorist commando units are infiltrating deep into government-held Syrian territory in order to mount deadly raids taking out military positions and killing Syrian and allied personnel.
This development coincides with the recent announcement by al Nusra rebrand, Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) that it has now unified all militant groups in Idlib under one unified command and control structure.

Yesterday, it was reported that the democracy-loving “rebel” terrorists fired munitions from the internationally agreed buffer zone in Idlib, Syria. This calculated move is sure tramp-up tensions in the region.
