Bernie has been doing a media blitz here in California-- and the polling in the primary has changed radically. A couple weeks ago, all the headlines about the horse race were about how Hillary was leading by double digits. The contest to win the June 7 race is now a dead heat.I wondered, though, who in Bernie's campaign suggested he do the John and Ken circus on KFI. That was a bad idea. John and Ken are babbling clowns of a Trumpian nature. They epitomize what's wrong with the media in America and their show is the last place for a serious candidate to go.
Yesterday Jim Webb, a sometime Democratic, but not really a Democrat, who flirted briefly with running for president as a Democrat, announced on Morning Joe-- he certainly went to the perfect venue-- that he would not be voting for Hillary Clinton if she wins the Democratic nomination, but that he is still open to voting for Herr Trumpf.

A couple days ago we looked briefly at Herr Trumpf's threat to chuck the constitutional prohibition on churches and religions openly endorsing candidates. Will we see a big TV spectacular on Inauguration Day featuring a bonfire with slimy little Eric Trumpf burning copies of the Constitution while Ivanka, dressed as Tzeitel, does a scintillating dance to the Kushner family anthem? Not likely, but God only knows what U.S.
In New Hampshire yesterday Herr Trumpf brought out more voters to the Republican primary-- both to vote for him (35.3%) and to vote against him (64.7%)-- than had ever voted in a New Hampshire Republican primary in before (almost as many as the Democrats' record turnout in 2008). And Democratic turnout Tuesday-- primarily for Bernie obviously-- was also much higher than expected. In 2008, the record-holder 'til yesterday, 287,542 Democrats voted and 238,979 Republicans voted.

Friday night I went down to CBS to watch Alan Grayson on Bill Maher's HBO Show, Real Time. Maher asked Grayson about the law suit he's promised to bring if Cruz wins the Republicasn nomination and Grayson, one of Congress' most astute legal minds, explained it in detail. Unfortunately a crazy right-wing, foul-mouthed, helmet-head backer of Cruz, Liz-something-or-other, kept interrupting and refused to pay attention to the facts of the matter beyond her own limited and insular experiences.
Bill Maher has told people that this Alan Grayson response to GOP hacks Nicolle Wallace and P.J. O'Rourke is the only instance of his Real Time audience ever giving one of his guests a standing ovation. And now there's a pretty good song based on it! Not a song, though, that the Senator from Wall Street, Chuck Schumer ($23,059,037), is likely to play at the next fundraising event he or one of his allies throws for Wall Street's pick for the open Florida senate seat, Patrick Murphy ($2,260,848). What are those number amounts next to their names?
