We keep getting told not to demean Trump because if you do, you'll be demeaning his supporters. Yeah, so? Isn't that the point? No one with an ability to exercise a modicum of critical thought would take Trump seriously for two seconds. Every word out of his mouth is a lie or is so twisted that its relationship to reality is approximately equivalent to the reality on reality TV-- mixed with the prescription drugs that inhabit the tiny brains of the people who drool over Trump's simple-minded nonsense.
Bill Maher, one of the most outspoken funny men around, is making his comedic rounds, and one stop is in Hawaii. In the islands, he is conducting the Aloha Live Stand Up Tour, and he has some hilarious, if not pertinent advice for the people of Maui regarding their fight against Monsanto and GMOs.
During his tour, Maher spoke to Maui Now about the island’s fight against Big Biotech:
In 2000, George Bush and John McCain, battling out for the Republican nomination in South Carolina, both pandered to the racists and secessionists by encouraging the flying of the Confederate flag on the State Capitol dome. After McCain's real feelings about the flag slipped out a month before the primary-- he called it a ''symbol of racism and slavery"-- his handlers grabbed him and talked some reality into his head.
This week Bill Maher took on the GOP and their Fox allies for ramping up-- on cue: election time-- their fake war on Christianity again. Watch the video above. Maher was so good that none of his Real Time guests even mentioned that leading the Democratic Party's "war on Christianity" is the left's newest hero, Pope Francis I. Aren't Republican Catholics muttering that the Pope is off the reservation and sounding like Bernie Sanders (or, God forbid, Jesus)? Does this story from Philadelphia sound familiar?

"You don't have to pass an IQ test to be in the Senate, though," giggled conservative Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor on the big screen. He was unseated by an undistinguished right-wing extremist, Tom Cotton, 476,309 (56.5%) to 332,669 (39.5%). I don't know how much his remarks to Bill Maher played into his defeat. I don't know how much Arkansas voters care about IQ test results or intelligence in their elected officials at all for that matter.
With Steve Israel's policy of never targeting GOP leaders, policy makers and committee chairman keeping the DCCC out of the MN-02 race that pits progressive Mike Obermueller against reactionary incumbent John Kline-- chair of the powerful and destructive House Committee of Education and the Workforce-- Blue America was over the moon that Bill Maher has stepped into the breach.
