Ohio residents assembled at the State Capitol in Columbus on Monday to protest the ‘Stay at Home’ order that was put in place on March 23rd. The order was recently extended and remains in place until at least May 1st.
This video was captured on live stream as the protest happened. Watch:
Ohioans are protesting the way state officials, including Governor Mike DeWine and Director of Ohio Department of Health, Dr. Amy Acton, have handled the coronavirus outbreak in their state.
Acton, who is managing the state’s health response to the crisis, told the public last month on lockdown day that “Today is the day we batten down the hatches.”
Protesters are calling for Acton to resign and want to ‘reopen’ Ohio.
Residents of Michigan and North Carolina have also begun to mount protests in response to their own state-ordered lockdowns.
The protestors are in violation of the Governor’s Executive Order and have been asked to leave. #ReopenNC pic.twitter.com/AIEetS42NE
