Extra UAH 10.5 bln spent on army in last three months – Yatseniuk
The Ukrainian authorities have allocated an extra UAH 10.5 billion (about $1bln) over the last three months to improve the combat capacity of the army, Ukrainian Premier Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
“Over these last three months we’ve formed the Ukrainian army, National Guard and security forces of the country. They defend Ukraine – іn total, we spent UAH 10.5 billion to finance the needs of the National defence, of which UAH 6.7 billion came from the reserve fund of the state budget,” he said at parliament on Friday during his report on 100 days of the government’s work. Yatseniuk said that the government was doing its best to improve material and technical base of the army, as well as to improve social protection of the soldiers. Besides, he reported that as of June 4 the public had donated UAH 128.7 million for the needs of the army. The premier said that these funds are meant for material and medical provisions of the army.

60 military servicemen treated in Kyiv after injuries sustained in counterterrorism operation
As the Defence Ministry reported on Friday, 60 military servicemen are being treated at the central military hospital in Kyiv after sustaining injuries during the counterterrorism operation in the east of the country.
50 of them are army soldiers and officers and 10 are from the National Guard and other military units. According to Vitaliy Andronatiy, director of the ministry’s health department, 140 servicemen have been given medical care since the start of the operation in April.
