A Syrian friend messaged me, his voice barely coherent in his grief, mourning the murder of his 10 year old cousin in al-Foua, northern Syria.
Eva, I lost my cousin today, in al-Foua. His name was Najeb Ahmad hallak. The terrorists killed him, he was just 10 years old. They shot him through his heart.
I hate this life, Eva.
Green-eyed Najeb was returning from school when sniped by western-backed “moderate” “rebels”. He was the youngest of the family.
There have been other murders of children and adults in al-Foua and Kafarya, a reported 300 since March 2015, and over 1700 since 2011, according to a resident, Dr Ali al-Moustafa, head of the sole hospital in al-Foua. Many were killed by terrorists’ mortars, rockets, missiles, hell-cannons and snipings. Others, more recently, have succumbed to malnutrition, cold weather, a lack of medicines or medical care due to the prolonged terrorist siege on the villages.
On February 6, an infant named Zahra died under the siege. The FB page Kafarya and Foua reported on their video (internet-translated): “Her body could not withstand against the harshness of the weather and the lack of means of heating, and the acute shortage of food and basic medical.”
On January 13, Fatma Nour al-Deen, just under a year and a half old, died in al-Foua from lack of medical care.
Al-Foua and neighbouring Kafarya, now comprising roughly 20,000 people, according to Dr. al-Moustafa, have been fully locked-down by terrorists’ siege since March 2015–although partially besieged and heavily attacked since 2011.
Terrorists include: Jebhat al-Nusra, Jaysh al-Fattah (the so-called “Army of Conquest”), and Ahrar al-Sham (Liberation of the Levant Movement) along with other “moderates” of the umbrella organization Jabhat al-Islamiyah (the Islamic Front).
Dr. al-Moustafa’s son Hassan reports that 80% of the houses in the villages have been damaged, from partial to total, and that while a January aid delivery did make it through, the villages are suffering desperately from over 10 months full-siege, terrorists’ missile and rockets attacks, and an urgent want of fuel to heat homes, pump water and run hospital machinery. Instead, residents are cutting and burning their olive trees (which will affect their future olive production, olives and their oil being a vital staple to their diets).
Journalist Vanessa Beeley noted on February 14, 2016:
“The situation in the terrorist besieged villages of Kafarya & Foua is worsening. Since the full siege began in March 2015 the UN has only succeeded in sending in one fuel delivery, a meagre 10,000 Litres that finally got through to the Idlib villages in January 2016.
These photos that have just been published from inside Kafarya and Foua show the desperate and ignored plight of these villagers who are struggling with starvation, lack of heat, electricity and medical supplies.”

In a February 12 update, Beeley wrote:
“One of the most heartbreaking images sent through to me is of a family member struggling to keep their relative alive by manual artificial respiration. There is no electricity to run the machinery that would normally keep them alive. Family members take it in turns to maintain the vital supply of oxygen or else this patient will die.”
In communications with a number of different Syrian friends either living in the villages or with family members still there, we get updates on the severity of their conditions, which go unreported in corporate media, as do the terrorist attacks on the civilians of these villages, as none of these truths serve the NATO-alliance’s war agenda on Syria.
To the family of young Najeb, the latest victim of terror-snipings on al-Foua, I cite a Syrian lamenting this child’s passing:
السلام لروحك أيها الطف
“Peace upon your soul, oh child.”
