Kurdish security sources revealed killing one of the most prominent leaders of the al-Qaeda linked Islamic State of Iraq and Syria ISIS during battles to regain control of the dam of Mosul. The source said that "A force of the Peshmerga killed the Minister of war, Tarkhan Batirhvili known as Abu Omar al-Shishani during battles in Dam of Mosul. Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (Isis) insurgents are transporting US-supplied Humvees across the border into war-torn Syria after capturing Iraq's second city of Mosul.
Militants were seen riding in the vehicles around Mosul and other areas under their control but photos have emerged on social media outlets of the military vehicles being inspected by senior Isis commander Umar al Shishani in Syria.
