Italy Avoids EU Sanctions, But Will Austerity Attract the Yellow Vests?

Italy is attempting to avoid EU sanctions by agreeing to peg its budget deficit. The country’s prime minister, Giuseppe Conte, announced cutting the target from 2.4% to 2.04%.
“We have recovered some financial resources, we have been very prudent,” Conte said after a meeting Jean Claude Juncker on Wednesday. “And we are now using these financial resources for this negotiation.”
However, talk of austerity might also trigger a Yellow Vest movement in Italy. If the Yellow Vest phenomenon in France spills into neighboring Italy, will it be anti-Italian government movement or anti-EU movement?
