As Expected, Voters Are Realizing Impeachment Is The Right Way To Go

The Chosen One by Nancy OhanianImagine this-- there are still 10 Democrats who refuse to back the impeachment hearing. Tulsi Gabbard, Kurt Schrader, Colin Alllred, Tom O'Halleran and Conor Lamb finally jumped ship from the sinking SS Trumpanzee so all that's left of the disgraced Democrats are:

• Anthony Brindisi (Coward-NY)• Joe Cunningham (Coward-SC)• Jared Golden (Coward-ME)• Kendra Horn (Coward-OK)• Ron Kind (Fake Dem-WI)• Ben McAdams (Fake Dem-UT)• Collin Peterson (Coward-MN)• Max Rose (Coward-NY)• Xochitl Torres Small (Coward-NM)• Jeff Van Drew (Coward/Fake Dem-NJ)

AND... the first Republican to back an impeachment inquiry signed on! That's big news-- especially because Nevada Republican Mark Amodei is a dyed-in-the-wool conservative. "I’m a big fan of oversight, so let’s let the committees get to work and see where it goes. Using government agencies to, if it’s proven, to put your finger on the scale of an election, I don’t think that’s right. If it turns out that it’s something along those lines, then there’s a problem." He did emphasize that he's not calling for actual impeachment, just an inquiry to get to the facts. At some point there's only going to be one Democrat left standing who opposes impeaching Trump, probably Jeff Van Drew (Blue Dog, NJ). As of this morning there were just a dozen 10 who hadn't backed impeaching the son-of-a-bitch. And now that it's all the media talks about and it's all that anyone talks about, it's starting to turn around in the polling. Morning Consult did a poll after the Ukraine scandal started to break. And, as you might have expected, it's all bad news for Señor T.The Patriot by Chip ProserOver the weekend only about of a third of registered voters wanted to see an impeachment hearing get going. Post-Ukraine that number has already shot up 7 points and it stands at 43%. This is happening even faster than it did to Nixon. It should be just a couple weeks before over half the registered voters agree that he needs to be impeached.

Voter support for impeachment matched its highest point of Donald Trump’s presidency as he faced a whistleblower allegation that he pressured Ukraine’s president to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden, with more impeachment supporters than ever before saying he committed an impeachable offense, according to Morning Consult polling.  The new Sept. 24-26 poll of 1,640 registered voters-- conducted as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) endorsed an impeachment inquiry and details emerged about the president’s pressure on Ukraine-- found the public divided at 43 percent on the question of whether Congress should begin proceedings to remove Trump from office, a net swing of 13 percentage points in favor of impeachment since a poll conducted over the weekend. The figure for support rose 7 points, while opposition dropped 6 points....Among those voters who support impeachment now, 59 percent said Trump committed an impeachable offense, a record high since Morning Consult began asking about it in May 2017. The last high was 52 percent, in the August 2018 survey. In the most recent survey, 37 percent of impeachment supporters said Trump should be removed from office because he has proven he is unfit to serve.Two-thirds of voters in the poll, which began gathering responses on Tuesday after Pelosi endorsed the launch of an impeachment inquiry, said they’d heard “some” or “a lot” about news accounts of Trump leaning on administration officials to withhold military assistance from Ukraine before pressing the country’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, to investigate allegedly corrupt acts by Biden and his son, Hunter, who had worked with a Ukrainian natural gas company. When directly informed of the news accounts, the share of voters who said they are backing impeachment because they believe Trump committed an impeachable offense rose 7 points, to 66 percent, a sign of the potential pain for Trump as more details become public.

A new University of Mary Washington poll of registered voters in Virginia was conducted between Sept. 3 and 15, so entirely before the Ukraine scandal began leaking out. Trump's certainly a dead-duck in that state. He lost to Hillary in 2016, but relatively narrowly-- 1,981,473 (49.73%) to 1,769,443 (44.41%). If this poll is onto something, he's going to be in for a real thrashing in 2020. These were the head-to-heads, among registered voters, they polled:

• Biden- 55% to Trumpanzee- 38%• Bernie- 52% to Trumpanzee- 39%• Elizabeth- 52% to Trumpanzee- 39%• Kamala- 50% to Trumpanzee- 39%

Teresa Tomlinson, the best of the candidates running for the Senate in Georgia issued a statement this morning about Barr's role in this mess. "Given the startling accusations of the whistleblower complaint, the apparent corroboration by the White House to elements of that complaint and given the public statements of agents of the president, it is clear that Attorney General William Barr is at least a witness in the investigation of whether the president abused his power and/or broke the law in his interactions with Ukrainian President Zelensky. Accordingly, pursuant to the ethical dictates of the Department of Justice and the concern for the appearance of impropriety, the Attorney General must immediately recuse himself from all matters pertaining to this investigation." Hopefully recusal now; prison for the grotesque consigliere down the road. It might be worth remembering that 3 Democrats showed the bad judgment during Barr's Senate confirmation to break with the rest of the Democrats and vote to confirm him. Even Rand Paul (R-KY) voted against making Barr Attorney General! The Dems with less sense that Paul? Doug Jones, who did it because he has a tough re-election coming right up, and two Republican shitbags pretending to be Democrats: Joe Manchin (WV) and Kirsten Sinema (AZ).
