A major scandal has come to light in Scotland. A fake anti-Semitic plot spearheaded by pro-Israel individuals aiming to smear a prominent pro-Palestine activists group, the “Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign.”

Imagine the courage and fortitude, borne of desperation, it requires to embark on a do or die attempt to cross the sea in a dinghy from a land where you’ve already been met with the fist of fury rather than the hand of friendship, to another land where more hostility and rage awaits your arrival.
The COVID crisis has given the State unprecedented new powers which politicians are more than willing to use in order to further consolidate power. Has Boris Johnson decreed mandatory masks to follow suite with Nicola Sturgeon’s diktat north of the border? But are the public aware of the long-term costs to democracy and society as whole?
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is no longer united, as most recently illustrated by the vastly dissimilar tactics to control the Covid-19 pandemic taken by England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
UK Prime Minster Boris Johnson has finally reappeared after his extended sick leave, only to deliver his best Winston Churchill impression to try and convince the public that another month of economic and social devastation is necessary to ‘win this war against the invisible enemy.’ Standing shoulder to shoulder with the PM is Nippy Sturgeon north of the border. In reality, the government is repositioning itself for a huge public backlash to what is an increasingly unpopular authoritarian and highly destructive policy. All this and much more.

Alex Salmond, former Scottish National Party leader and first minister of Scotland, has been acquitted of sexual assault charges by a jury at Edinburgh’s High Court.
After about six hours of deliberation, the jury found Salmond not guilty on 12 charges of attempted rape, sexual assault and indecent assault. A further charge, sexual assault with attempt to rape, was “not proven by majority.”

And so we have it. The much-awaited announcement regarding school closures in Scotland has taken place, and once again Nicola Sturgeon has beaten her Westminster counterpart by addressing the nation in relation to Covid-19. Schools are to be shut from Friday onwards, with no guarantee they will re-open prior to the summer break at the beginning of July. Exams will be postponed as young people’s lives are put on hold.
