Eggo Waffles Recalled Due to Listeria Contamination

Frozen Eggo waffles are the latest food to be hit with a recall due to possibly being contaminated with the listeria bacteria. So far, 10,000 cases of the Kellogg’s® Eggo® Nutri-Grain®Whole Wheat Waffles have been pulled from the shelves. No illnesses have occurred from the possible listeria contamination, as the bacteria was discovered during routine testing at their Battle Creek, Michigan production facility. [1]

Baker’s Scoop HEB 100% Whole Wheat Flour Recalled Due to Foreign Matter

The Baker’s Scoop HEB 100% Whole Wheat Flour’s 5-pound packages have been recalled due to foreign material found in some of the bags. The foreign matter is described as soft, white, nylon fragments that look a little bit like white hair. The Morrison Milling Company, who produces the flour, says this is likely from a faulty screen at the production plant. The foreign matter in the flour was found during a routine check of equipment and products. [1]

Recall: Entenmann’s Little Bites Snacks

Entenmann’s Little Bites fudge brownies, chocolate chip muffins, and variety packs are being recalled due to the fact that some of them may contain “little pieces of plastic” inside of the snacks. [1]
Bimbo Bakeries in Illinois, which produces the Little Bites, has said that this is due to a manufacturing failure. The company is issuing the recall voluntarily.
So far, one person has been injured by the snack.

McDonald’s Gives Kids Fitness Trackers, But Now Issues Recall

In a move to help counteract the contribution McDonald’s makes to childhood obesity, the corporate giant made the decision to help young people keep track of their steps by including fitness trackers in their Happy Meals. The watch-style wearable came in 6 different colors and was meant as a fun way to help children keep track of their physical activity. However, due to recent concerns of skin irritation, the Step It, as it was dubbed, will no longer be included in Happy Meals.

These 7 Turmeric Brands are Being Recalled Due to Lead Contamiantion

There are now 6 more brands of turmeric being recalled due to lead contamination. So far, there have been no illnesses or injuries reported from the high lead levels in the turmeric, but Gel Spice, Inc., the company expanding the recall, is taking precautions.

Meijer Recalls Fresh Products Due to Possible Salmonella Risks

Although there have been no known illnesses from Meijer’s fresh salads and sandwiches, they are none-the-less embarking on a recall of their food due to potentially being infected with Salmonella. The sandwiches and salads that are affected were sold between July 20, 2016 and July 25, 2016.
This precautionary measure was put into place after Prime Foods, LLC, who supplies Meijer with eggs for their fresh products, announced that some of their eggs have tested positive for salmonella.

Betty Crocker Recalls the Following Cake Mixes

General Mills has recently been having a lot of trouble with contaminated flour, leading to several recalls. Next up on the list is a recall of two flavors of the beloved Betty Crocker cake mix due to possible contamination with the E. coli O121 bacteria. The two flavors affected by this recall are the Betty Crocker Delights Super Moist Carrot Cake Mix and the Betty Crocker Delights Super Moist Party Rainbow Chip Cake Mix.
Both of these flavors contain Wondra flour flavor chips, which was initially recalled on July 1st.
