I don't go in for identity politics at all. Voting for someone because they were born a woman, gay, of any particular religion, Asian or black, for example, is not my cup pf tea. Nor is voting for someone who is a veteran, a scientist, a doctor or part of any age group. Take women. Women make up 51% of the population but just 22% of the Senate and 19% of the House. That's outrageous.
by Nancy OhanianRuben Kihuen was one of my favorite congressional candidates in 2018. Blue America did a dual endorsement for him and Lucy Flores, but his progressive record of leadership in the Nevada legislature. A former Harry Reid aide, he was elected to the state House in 2006 and then the state Senate, where he served as Majority Whip, pushing an agenda to benefit working families.

On this solo show I discuss the Vegas Shooting and Stephen Paddock. I start off by talking about the Vegas Police and their track record as being unprofessional and trigger happy. The allegations that the police didn’t help evacuate the concert, and that the cover up my stem from their failures are explored. I then begin laying out the facts as we know them about the shooting, Paddock and Marilou Danley. I look into the ever changing narrative, including the latest development regarding hotel security guard Jesus Campos. Then I explore Stephen Paddock and try to make sense of who he was.
Ed Opperman joins me today for a special PPR podcast on the Las Vegas Shooting. Ed tells us about the night in question, giving us a first hand view of what was happening in Vegas. Ed talks about the unprofessional nature of the Vegas police department. We discuss how this led to massive confusion and many of the early reports of multiple shooters and multiple incidents all over the strip. Ed also touch on Vegas police corruption, their tendency to overreact.
As law enforcement officials release more information about Stephen Paddock, the suspect in the Las Vegas shooting that killed nearly 60 people and injured more than 500 Sunday night, much of the reporting on his identity has focused on the fact that he is a “local individual” and a “lone wolf”—terminology that critics say has been used to signify that Paddock was a white male, and therefore not a terrorist.
