Jack Dorsey, the CEO of Twitter, campaigned for Net Neutrality, claiming it was "indispensable to free expression". To show his dedication to free expression, Twitter now is on a roll banning prominent right-wing figures. [The Trump administration said that net neutrality rules needed to be abandoned so the FCC would have the authority to prevent content providers like Twitter from censoring commentary. Now we get to see if the FCC actually will follow through on this promise.

Analysis — Two seminal events that took place last week – the FCC’s vote to scrap net neutrality rules and Rupert Murdoch’s sale of vast chunks of his empire to Disney – are a stark reminder of what really matters in the contemporary media economy: size and influence.

The Federal Communications Commission voted to eliminate net neutrality rules. Chairman Pai believes that content providers should not be allowed to censor users and should ​follow the same rules applied to Internet Service Providers, ​such as Verizon and AT&T. Because of this position, Chairman Pai has become the target of numerous death threats. There were also protests at his house, and his children were identified on posters advising them their father is evil and that he ​murdered democracy.
